Director of the ENSP participated in the first class of Specialization of the UNA-SUS

BrasilTo start the Specialization in Primary Health Care for the Family in the distance mode, was held last Thursday, August 5, in Mato Grosso do Sul, the inaugural lecture of the course.

This specialization is promoted by Fiocruz Cerrado Pantanal and the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, with the support and funding from the Ministry of Labour Management and Health Education, the Ministry of Health, through the ANU -SUS.

The Director of the ENSP, Antonio Ivo de Carvalho, who is part of the Interinstitutional Commission on the UNA-SUS, was present at the meeting with about 500 professionals listed in the course.

Start the Course of Essential Public Health Functions

FESPOn 5 August, started the virtual course of Essential Public Health Functions (EPHF). This is the second version of the course and aims to develop leadership and management skills of the "Essential Public Health Functions" to contribute to public health practice, strengthening national health systems and improving the health of the population.

It adopts a modular structure with an introductory module familiarization VCPH platform, four thematic learning modules, and a final module that presents a proposal for intervention designed to solve a critical problem in relation to any EPHF, which will be selected by the participant from the beginning of the course.

Last July was launched the new website of PALTEX, which will be integrated into the website of the Pan American Health Organization in the region and linked to Web sites PALTEX in country offices.

On this new page priority information is included on the values, structure, functioning and the achievements of PALTEX for them to serve the general public. Have also created tools for virtual dialogue.

On July 15 began the first version of the Virtual Course for Trainers of Physicians with a focus on Primary Health Care

This course which started its activity with an enrollment of 65 students, aims to support the processes of change in medical schools and health services involved in the development of PHC renewed its area of influence, from the reflection on professional practice.

The program aims to provide opportunities for participants to analyze, exchange and experience developing new approaches and new training practices, utilizing the communication tools and virtual interactive environment production.

First Virtual Course "Leadership in Human Resources for Health" in Argentina

This course has had three regional editions, which have participated regarding the Ministry of Health RRHH and the various provinces of Argentina.The country was represented also by tutors and experts who participated in his dictation and evaluation.

1st Virtual Course "Management of Palliative Care Program"

On June 14 began the 1st Virtual Course "Management of Palliative Care Programs" and is being developed from the space created for Panama in the Virtual Campus of Public Health (VCPH) Classroom to countries of the Region.

This course is the first developed in Panama on VCPH, has an enrollment of 48 students from different provinces of the country and has a duration of 165 hours over 115 hours of networking and 50 face work hours.

These seminars raised expectations of a rich dynamic interplay based on open dialogue, confluent and creative about the conditions and possibilities that owns each of the topics to be analyzed, perceived trends as well as the role that the participants have in the generation of new contributions to be observers and creators in the management of these processes in each country.

Working to strengthen Peru's VCPH Node

Between 6 and 10 June, was performed a visit to Peru, where various activities were developed to analyze the current situation and development prospects of the Node of Virtual Campus of Public Health (VCPH) Peru.

As part of the V Andean Development of Human Resources for Health, Dr. Joseph B. Jardines, General Coordinator of the CVSP, gave a presentation on the Virtual Campus of Public Health.

On June 2 took place in ARG FLACSO a meeting of the VCPH Argentina Node, attended by representatives of major health institutions in the country.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of warmth and enthusiasm nucleated professionals who had earlier participated in events as well as new members who perform different functions in their respective institutions. This diversity is further enriched the experience.

Between 17 and 20 May, took place in Medellin, Colombia, an exchange with various universities in Colombia, with interests and developments in the field of e-learning in health and in the future can be integrated into the  Colombia VCPH Node.

The visit, conducted by Dr. Jose Baudilio Jardines, General Coordinator of the Virtual Campus of Public Health (VCPH), Dr. Eduardo Guerrero, Regional Adviser, Human Resources and Dr. Gerardo Alfaro, Consultant HSS in the PAHO in Colombia, the main objective was to analyze the current situation and short-term prospects of the  Colombia VCPH Node.

With an enrollment of 82 students, began on May 16, the second version of the Diploma in Health and Local Development. This course aims, to strengthen the link between health and local development to improve health situation and quality of life of citizens through the development of competence to act on inequality, reducing exclusion and achieve full access to the right to health.

This diploma is intended for: local government actors, institutional, academic, community and social organizations that promote local development and involved with specific health practices in response to three specific sections:

After a joint effort by the team of the National School of Public Health Sergio Arouca ( NSPH / Fiocruz) and BIREME, we were able to conclude the process of interoperability for a complete collection of educational resources available on the NSPH repository, integrating them into Brazilian node of the Virtual Campus of Public Health (VCPH).

Thanks to this work are available on the Web VHL / VCPH and integrated interface to the Virtual Health Library about 1358 new resources.

Already begun the 3rd. current version of the virtual course "Capacity Development for the renewal of PHC"In order to promote the development of the renewal of Primary Care in the Region of the Americas by strengthening the capacities of leaders and managers of health, was launched on 29 April 2010, the third version virtual course "Development capabilities for the renewal of PHC".

This course will last 200 hours, about 8 hours per week and has an enrollment of 93 students from 18 countries in the region: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Started the 3rd. current version of the "Tutors for Learning Network"On April 15, 2010 began the third version of the Course Tutors Learning Network. This course will last 12 weeks, during which time it is estimated that participants will put into the course an average of 6 hours per week flexible schedules and distributed according to their capabilities.

The enrollment has 66 students from 17 countries, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay. These students will be tutored by seven teachers from Argentina, Cuba, and Mexico.

On 9 April, with the aim of adding new institutions to the Virtual Campus of Public Health (VCPH) was held a meeting with the dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Sao Paulo, Dr. Helena Ribeiro, and part of its management team to assess the conditions that facilitate the active participation of the Institution in the VCPH.

As a result of this visit, there will be a training workshop on e-learning and tools of the Virtual Campus at the School of Public Health at the University of Sao Paulo, with the participation of teachers and technical staff in charge of Digital Production Center.

In order to improve and bring new ideas to work in the Virtual Campus of Public Health (VCPH), took place between March 24 and  28, several meetings and exchanges with Human Resources teams, KMR and   other areas consultants of the headquarters of PAHO / WHO in Washington DC that have launched or planned educational processes in the CVSP.

Between March, 21 and  23 were held in the Dominican Republic, several activities to assess the conditions in this country for the development of a Virtual Campus of Public Health Node.

During a meeting with Mr. Nery Sanchez Paulino, Director of Ministry of Health Human Resources and his team, with the participation of Drs. Jose B. Jardines and Rosa María Borrell Regional Advisers PAHO / WHO and the National Human Resources Consulting Health Dr. Selma Zapata, the great interest raised by decentralizing some of the regional learning courses and the potential for the country to take advantage of CVSP tools.
